A wonderful North Shore program that repairs previously loved bikes, and gives them to families in need. The program united 240 bikes with new owners in 2024. Children and adults in need of independence, autonomy, and reliable transportation.

Braaap, braaap, zing ding ding ding. Oh, no. There’s the sound of another tree coming down. Birds circle the area, literally in a flap because their home is being destroyed. The tree is a large Western red cedar, perhaps over 100 years old. I cry for the birds, the tree and me.
We need many, many more rain gardens and a plan to integrate them with our traditional municipal stormwater management systems.
